Agentforce is Salesforce's AI agent platform, and it is a serious product. The reason people search for an Agentforce alternative is almost never capability. It is the meter. Salesforce publishes six separate ways to buy the same agent, and the five cost examples printed on its own pricing page range from $10 a month to $1,800 a month depending on which one you land on.

Read off salesforce.com/agentforce/pricing on September 4, 2026: Flex Credits cost $500 per 100,000, a standard agent action burns 20 credits ($0.10) and a voice action burns 30 ($0.15). Conversations are a flat $2 each. An Agentforce User License is $5 per user per month and still requires credits. The unmetered add-on is $125 per user per month, $150 for Industries, and Agentforce 1 Editions start at $550 per user per month. Salesforce Foundations lets you build and test at $0.

There is one constraint most comparison articles miss, and it matters more than the rates. Salesforce's own FAQ states that Flex Credits and Conversations will not be supported in the same org. You pick one consumption model for the whole organization, and switching later means swapping everything over. Salesforce also notes that granular agent analytics are only available with Flex Credits, so choosing the flat conversation price quietly costs you reporting depth.

MessageAgent is built the opposite way. One AI persona with shared memory follows a customer across SMS, WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook DM, web chat, and email in a single inbox, and the bill is one flat subscription tier. No credits, no per-action rate, no per-conversation rate, no seat math. Carrier and Meta message fees pass through at cost with no markup. Worth saying plainly: MessageAgent is not on sale yet. Pricing is planned at $79, $199 and $499 a month and signing up today joins a waitlist, not a subscription. If you need an agent in production this quarter, Agentforce or one of the competitors below is the honest answer.

Side by side

MessageAgent vs Agentforce

Agentforce meters the work six different ways and forces an org-wide choice between Flex Credits and Conversations, where MessageAgent bills one flat subscription across six channels with message fees passed through at cost.

Feature
MessageAgent
Agentforce
Number of things that meter
One: the subscription tier. Answering, qualifying, booking and upselling are included at any volume.
Six published buying models: Foundations at $0, Flex Credits, Conversations, User License, the flat add-on, and Agentforce 1 Editions.
Cost of a single agent action
Included. A conversation that triggers twenty lookups costs the same as one that triggers none.
20 Flex Credits, which is $0.10 at the published $500 per 100,000 rate. Voice actions are 30 credits, or $0.15.
Can you mix pricing models?
Not applicable. There is one model.
No. Salesforce states Flex Credits and Conversations will not be supported in the same org, and switching means swapping everything across.
Reporting depth by pricing choice
The same reporting on every tier.
Granular agent analytics are listed as available only with Flex Credits, so the flat conversation model trades away reporting.
Channel coverage from one brain
SMS, WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook DM, web chat, and email, one persona with shared memory across all six.
Deep across the Salesforce estate and strong on voice; channel breadth outside Salesforce depends on what you connect and license.
Message-fee markup
Carrier and Meta fees passed through at cost, no markup.
Carrier and channel costs sit outside the credit pool and are handled through the relevant Salesforce products.
Prerequisite platform
None. It runs standalone with a lightweight CRM built in.
Designed around Salesforce data and metadata. The value case assumes you are already on Salesforce.
Available to buy today
No. Pricing is planned and signing up joins a waitlist. This is the honest gap.
Yes. Agentforce is generally available and sold through Salesforce account teams.

Published figures

Salesforce's own worked examples run from $10 to $1,800 a month

These five rows are not our estimates. They are the worked calculations Salesforce publishes on its US Agentforce pricing page, reproduced with its arithmetic intact at $500 per 100,000 Flex Credits. They are the clearest thing on the page, and they show why "how much does Agentforce cost" has no single answer: the variable that decides your bill is how many actions your average job triggers, multiplied by how many people trigger it.

Salesforce's published example Actions and volume Flex Credits per month Published monthly cost
Employee onboarding questions 1 action, 5 questions x 20 new employees 2,000 $10
Internal requests 2 actions, 20 requests a day x 30 days 24,000 $120
Voice calls 4 voice actions x 300 calls a month 36,000 $180
Field service appointments 5 actions, 3 a day x 20 days x 10 reps 60,000 $300
Service cases at scale 3 actions, 3 cases a day x 20 days x 100 users 360,000 $1,800
MessageAgent (planned, waitlist) Any volume, any number of actions Not metered $79 to $499 flat

Rows one to five read directly from salesforce.com/agentforce/pricing on September 4, 2026, currency set to US Dollar. Salesforce prints a footnote stating these examples are illustrative and exclude Data 360 credits and other consumption services, so treat them as a floor. Common questions

Switching from Agentforce

Do unused Agentforce Flex Credits roll over?

No. Salesforce states that unused Flex Credits do not roll over into subsequent subscription terms, so anything pre-purchased and unconsumed expires at renewal. Paired with the fact that there is no overage penalty (you simply pay your contracted rate in arrears), the practical guidance is to buy near the bottom of your forecast range rather than the top.

Can I start Agentforce with no commitment?

Only on Flex Credits. Salesforce publishes three buying models: Pre-Purchase upfront, Pre-Commit with a baseline and a true-up, and PayGo billed monthly in arrears. Its FAQ then limits PayGo and Pre-Commit to Flex Credits, excluding Conversations, the add-ons and Agentforce 1 Editions. Pre-Commit is also marked widely available later this year, so as of 4 September 2026 the realistic no-commitment path is PayGo on Flex Credits.

How much does Agentforce cost per month?

Salesforce publishes five worked monthly examples running from $10 to $1,800, a 180-fold spread on the same product. The $10 case is 20 new hires asking 5 knowledge questions each. The $1,800 case is 100 users handling 3 cases a day for 20 days. Both are priced at $0.10 per standard action on Flex Credits, and all five exclude Data 360 credits, so treat them as floors.

What is the best Agentforce alternative?

It depends what you are replacing. If you want the same enterprise support-agent shape without Salesforce lock-in, the names that come up consistently are Fin by Intercom, Decagon, Sierra, Ada, Forethought, Maven AGI and Kore.ai. If you are a smaller US team whose real complaint is the metering rather than the capability, a flat-priced omnichannel agent is a better fit than another consumption platform.

How much does Agentforce cost?

There is no single price because Salesforce sells six models at once. As of September 4, 2026: Flex Credits are $500 per 100,000, Conversations are $2 each, an Agentforce User License is $5 per user per month plus credits, the unmetered add-on is $125 per user per month ($150 for Industries), Agentforce 1 Editions start at $550 per user per month, and Salesforce Foundations is $0 for building and testing.

Can you use Flex Credits and Conversations at the same time?

No. Salesforce states directly that Flex Credits and Conversations will not be supported in the same org. You choose one consumption model organization-wide. You can move from Conversations to Flex Credits later, but it requires swapping everything over rather than running the two side by side, so this is a decision worth getting right at signing.

Is Agentforce cheaper per action or per conversation?

The break-even is exactly twenty actions. Twenty standard actions cost 20 x 20 credits = 400 credits = $2.00, which is precisely the per-conversation price. Conversations that average under twenty actions are cheaper on Flex Credits; long multi-step conversations are cheaper at the flat $2 rate. Salesforce's own examples use one to five actions per use case, which points most service work toward Flex Credits.

Why do companies look for Agentforce alternatives?

Three reasons dominate. Avoiding deeper Salesforce lock-in when the agent is the newest and most expensive layer on top. Wanting channel coverage beyond the Salesforce estate, particularly SMS, WhatsApp and Instagram in one place. And budget predictability: a consumption meter that scales with success is hard to defend when the same product is documented at $10 and at $1,800 a month.

Do you need Salesforce to use Agentforce?

In practice, yes. Agentforce is built around Salesforce data, metadata and permissions, and the buying models are sold through Salesforce editions and licenses. That is a genuine strength if your customer record already lives there. If it does not, you are paying for an integration advantage you cannot use, which is the clearest signal to look at a standalone agent instead.

Is Salesforce buying Intercom Fin?

Yes. Salesforce signed a definitive agreement on June 15, 2026 to acquire the company now named Fin, formerly Intercom, for approximately $3.6 billion, with the technology and team set to power Agentforce. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of Salesforce's fiscal 2027. That matters here because Fin is the most frequently named Agentforce alternative, and the two are on track to be the same company.

Where does Agentforce genuinely win?

Depth inside Salesforce. If your cases, orders, entitlements and permissions already live in Service Cloud, Agentforce acts on that data natively with governance that a bolt-on integration cannot match, and Agentforce Voice is real. Flex Credits are also genuinely fungible across actions, prompts, translations and voice actions, so one pooled budget covers the whole org. MessageAgent does not replace any of that.

How do I estimate an Agentforce bill before signing?

Pull thirty real transcripts from last month and count the discrete things an agent would have done in each: every lookup, record update, drafted reply and summary. Average them, multiply by 20 credits, by your monthly conversation volume, by $0.005. Compare that against volume times $2. Then ask your account team in writing what falls outside the credit pool, because Salesforce's own footnote excludes Data 360 credits.

Can I buy MessageAgent today?

No, and we would rather say so than waste your evaluation. MessageAgent is pre-launch. The $79, $199 and $499 tiers are planned pricing, and signing up puts you on the waitlist. If you need an AI agent in production this quarter, buy one of the vendors above and use this page for the arithmetic rather than the pitch.
