Zendesk charges for AI by the automated resolution, and as of 26 August 2026 it publishes both rates on its own pricing page: $1.50 per resolution if you commit to a volume up front, or $2.00 per resolution on pay as you go. Seats are separate. Support Team is $19 per agent per month billed annually, Suite Team $55, Suite Professional $115, and Suite Enterprise is quote only. That is the whole sticker, and the AI line is the one that moves.

This is worth stating plainly because it is new information. For most of the past two years Zendesk did not publish a dollar figure for an automated resolution anywhere on its pricing page, and the $1.50 and $2.00 numbers circulated only through third-party trackers. They are now vendor-published, sitting in the plan comparison table under "Committed automated resolutions" and "Pay-as-you-go resolutions". We had previously flagged those figures as unverified on this site. They are verified now, and we have corrected the other pages accordingly.

Two details in that table matter more than the headline rate. The first is that both rates are identical on all three published plans. Support Team pays $1.50, Suite Team pays $1.50, Suite Professional pays $1.50. Moving up a tier buys you seats and features, not a better AI rate, which is the opposite of how per-seat software usually works. So the familiar advice to upgrade your way out of usage fees does not apply here.

The second is the size of the included allowance, and it is genuinely small. Zendesk includes 5 automated resolutions per agent per month on Support Team and Suite Team, and 10 per agent per month on Suite Professional, capped at 10,000 a year. A ten-agent Suite Team account paying $550 a month in seats gets 50 automated resolutions included. Fifty. If your AI handles a fortieth of a busy day, you are already into the meter.

Work it through at a realistic volume. Ten agents on Suite Team, 1,000 support contacts a month, and an AI that resolves 40 percent of them without escalation. That is 400 automated resolutions, 50 included, 350 billable. At the committed rate that is $525. On pay as you go it is $700. Against $550 of seats, the AI line is 49 to 56 percent of your Zendesk bill, and it grows every time the AI gets better at its job.

That 33 percent gap between $1.50 and $2.00 is the price of not forecasting. It is a reasonable structure from Zendesk's side and an awkward one from yours, because the number you are being asked to commit to is your deflection rate twelve months out, which is the single hardest number to predict in a support budget. Commit low and you pay $2.00 on the overflow. Commit high and you have bought resolutions you may not use.

The annual cap deserves a look if you are a larger team, because it is easy to miss. Included resolutions stop growing at 10,000 a year no matter how many agents you add. On Suite Professional at 10 per agent per month, that ceiling binds once you pass roughly 84 agents. On Suite Team at 5 per agent per month it binds at roughly 167. Past those headcounts every additional seat you buy adds $115 or $55 of licence and zero additional included AI.

And the resolution meter is not the only usage line. Action Builder runs on action credits, with additional credits at $200 per 100,000 actions per subscription term. Sunshine Conversations includes 1,000 monthly active users and 1,000 notifications, then charges $50 per pack of 2,500 additional MAUs and $50 per pack of 25,000 additional notifications, with overage subject to what Zendesk calls a True Forward model. Copilot is $50 per agent per month paid yearly, the Workforce Engagement Bundle another $50, and Contact Center $83. Counting them up, Zendesk now bills on five separate meters plus optional per-seat add-ons, which revises the two-meter figure we published here in earlier months.

One more thing changed recently. Zendesk now sells Forethought AI agents as part of its own lineup, branded "Zendesk + Forethought" and marked new on the pricing page. Forethought used to appear on shortlists as a Zendesk competitor. It routes to Contact Sales with no published price, so if a rep proposes it, ask how it is metered before you assume the $1.50 rate carries across.

What you do with this depends on your volume and your appetite for a variable line. Zendesk is a genuinely deep suite and the per-resolution model is honest in the sense that you pay for outcomes rather than attempts. MessageAgent takes the other side of the trade: a flat monthly subscription at $79, $199 or $499, carrier and Meta message fees passed through at cost, and no charge per resolution, so a better deflection rate lowers your cost per contact instead of raising your invoice. At the committed $1.50 rate, roughly 333 billable resolutions a month costs more in Zendesk AI fees alone than our entire top tier. Worth saying clearly: MessageAgent pricing is planned and not yet on sale, so today this page is a budgeting tool and a waitlist, not a checkout.

Zendesk plan prices, included automated resolutions and AI rates

Read first-hand from zendesk.com/pricing on 26 August 2026 with figures shown in US Dollars. These are Zendesk's own published numbers, not estimates or tracker figures. Zendesk supports USD, EUR, GBP and BRL, and states that plan changes can affect billing immediately or at renewal, so confirm on your order form.

Included automated resolutions are capped at 10,000 a year regardless of headcount, so the allowance stops growing above roughly 84 agents on Suite Professional and roughly 167 on Suite Team. Beyond the resolution meter, Zendesk also bills action credits at $200 per 100,000 actions per subscription term, and Sunshine Conversations at $50 per pack of 2,500 monthly active users and $50 per pack of 25,000 notifications above the 1,000 included of each.

What you get

Everything one AI agent handles

1

Upgrading your plan does not lower the AI rate

Zendesk charges $1.50 committed and $2.00 pay as you go on Support Team, Suite Team and Suite Professional alike. The tier changes your seat price and your included allowance, never the per-resolution number, so the usual escape route of moving up a plan does not exist here.

2

The included allowance is 5 resolutions per agent

Ten agents on Suite Team pay $550 a month in seats and get 50 automated resolutions included, capped at 10,000 a year across the whole account. Any deflection rate a vendor would call successful puts you past that allowance in the first week.

3

Success is the thing that raises your invoice

Under per-resolution billing, every improvement to your knowledge base and every question your AI learns to close makes the bill larger. A flat subscription inverts that: better deflection lowers your cost per contact instead of raising the line item.

4

Five meters instead of one

Seats, automated resolutions, action credits, Sunshine MAUs and Sunshine notifications are five separate usage lines before you add Copilot, Workforce Engagement or Contact Center at $50 to $83 per agent. We bill one subscription and pass carrier and Meta fees through at cost.

5

The commitment you are asked to forecast is deflection

The 33 percent gap between $1.50 and $2.00 is the penalty for not predicting your automation rate a year ahead, which is the least predictable number in a support budget. Model both rates before signing, not just the committed one.

6

Honest about where Zendesk wins

If you need mature enterprise ticketing, skills-based routing, an IVR phone tree, sandbox environments, granular agent roles and a decade of workflow depth across departments, Zendesk is a strong product and Suite Professional at $115 is a fair price. Model the AI meter carefully, not the software.

Common questions

Zendesk AI pricing questions

How much does Zendesk AI cost?

Zendesk charges per automated resolution: $1.50 each if you commit to a volume in advance, or $2.00 each on pay as you go. Both rates are identical across Support Team, Suite Team and Suite Professional. Seats are billed separately at $19, $55 and $115 per agent per month on annual billing.

What is an automated resolution in Zendesk?

Zendesk defines it as a customer request successfully resolved by the AI agent without any escalation to a human agent. It is the unit Zendesk uses to calculate and bill AI agent usage, so a conversation the AI attempts and then hands to a person is not counted as an automated resolution.

How many automated resolutions are included with Zendesk?

Support Team and Suite Team include 5 automated resolutions per agent per month. Suite Professional includes 10 per agent per month. The total included allowance is capped at 10,000 a year for the account, so a ten-agent Suite Team plan includes 50 automated resolutions a month.

How much does Zendesk cost per agent per month?

On annual billing, Support Team is $19 per agent per month, Suite Team is $55 and Suite Professional is $115. Paying monthly instead raises those to $25, $69 and $149. Suite Enterprise with Copilot is quote only and Zendesk does not publish a figure for it.

What is the difference between committed and pay-as-you-go resolutions?

Committed resolutions cost $1.50 each and require you to agree a volume in advance. Pay-as-you-go resolutions cost $2.00 each with no volume commitment. The gap is 33 percent, and it is charged for the flexibility of not forecasting how much your AI will resolve.

Does Zendesk publish a price for AI resolutions?

Yes, as of August 2026 it does. The plan comparison table on zendesk.com/pricing lists $1.50 for committed automated resolutions and $2.00 for pay-as-you-go resolutions on all three published plans. This is a change: for a long period those figures existed only in third-party trackers.

How much does Zendesk Copilot cost?

Copilot is a featured add-on at $50 per agent per month paid yearly. The Workforce Engagement Bundle is also $50 per agent per month and Contact Center is $83. Copilot is included by default during the 14-day free trial, which runs on the Suite Professional plan.

What else does Zendesk charge for besides seats and AI?

Action Builder consumes action credits, with extra credits at $200 per 100,000 actions per subscription term. Sunshine Conversations includes 1,000 monthly active users and 1,000 notifications, then bills $50 per pack of 2,500 further MAUs and $50 per pack of 25,000 further notifications.

Is Zendesk AI cheaper than Intercom Fin or Gorgias?

On the headline rate, no. Fin charges $0.99 per outcome and Help Scout $0.75 per resolution, against Zendesk at $1.50 committed. Gorgias lands near $1.26 on Pro because each AI interaction also consumes a billable ticket. Total cost still depends on seats, since Fin adds $29 helpdesk seats and Zendesk adds $55 to $115.

Does Zendesk have a free trial?

Yes, 14 days on the Zendesk Customer Service Suite Professional plan, with Copilot included by default. Trial access to AI features is available for evaluation although Zendesk notes the included capabilities may vary. Early stage startups can apply for a separate 6-month Suite trial for up to 50 agents.

What does Zendesk cost for 25 agents with AI?

Twenty-five agents on Suite Professional annual is $2,875 a month in seats with 250 automated resolutions included. If the AI resolves 1,500 requests a month, the 1,250 billable ones cost $1,875 committed or $2,500 pay as you go, taking the monthly total to roughly $4,750 or $5,375.

What currencies does Zendesk bill in?

Zendesk currently supports USD, EUR, GBP and BRL. Payment methods are bank account direct debit, credit or debit card, and PayPal, with invoice-based billing generally available through a sales-assisted purchase rather than online checkout.
