Gorgias bills by the ticket, not by the seat. As of 20 August 2026 the published US plans are Starter at $10 a month, Basic at $50 billed annually or $60 monthly, Pro at $300 annually or $360 monthly, Advanced at $750 annually or $900 monthly, and a custom Enterprise tier. Each plan includes a fixed number of billable tickets (50, 300, 2,000 and 5,000), and every ticket past that allowance costs $0.40 on Starter and Basic or $0.36 on Pro and Advanced. That is the whole sticker price, and it is the part most buyers budget for.

The part that surprises people is the AI. Gorgias sells AI Agent on top of the helpdesk, and its own pricing page states plainly that "each automated interaction also counts as one helpdesk ticket". So a question your AI resolves without a human is charged twice: once as an AI Agent interaction, and again against your included ticket allowance. On a Pro plan that means an AI resolution beyond both allowances lands somewhere between $1.26 and $1.86, depending on which of the two AI rates Gorgias applies to your contract.

There is a genuine ambiguity here worth raising with a sales rep before you sign. The same pricing page publishes two different AI numbers: AI Agent interactions are "priced at $0.90 each on annual plans or $1.00 on monthly plans", and separately that overage above the plan's included automation allowance "is billed at $1.50 per interaction". Gorgias does not reconcile the two in public. Ask which rate appears on your order form, because on a few hundred resolutions a month the gap is several hundred dollars.

The second thing to check is how small the included AI allowance is next to the included ticket count. Basic includes 300 tickets but only 30 automated AI interactions. Pro includes 2,000 tickets and 190 AI interactions. Advanced includes 5,000 tickets and 530. In other words the plans bundle AI automation for roughly a tenth of your ticket volume. Any deflection rate a vendor would call good puts you well past that allowance, which is precisely when the meter starts to matter.

Work it through with real numbers. A store on Pro annual pays $300 a month and gets 2,000 tickets plus 190 AI interactions. Say the AI resolves 30 percent of those 2,000 tickets, so 600 automated resolutions. The 410 above the allowance cost $369 at the $0.90 rate or $615 at the $1.50 rate. The tickets themselves stay inside the 2,000 included, so there is no ticket overage. The monthly bill is therefore $669 or $915 against a $300 sticker, and it goes up every time the AI gets better at its job.

That is the structural point about per-resolution billing, and it is not unique to Gorgias. Fin charges $0.99 per resolution, Help Scout $0.75, Front from $0.05 per conversation on Autopilot. What is unusual about Gorgias is the double count, because the same automated interaction consumes a ticket as well. MessageAgent takes the other side of that trade: a flat monthly subscription at $79, $199 or $499, with carrier and Meta message fees passed through at cost and no charge per resolution, so improving deflection lowers your cost per contact instead of raising your invoice.

What you get

Everything one AI agent handles

1

The AI is not a second meter

Gorgias charges an AI Agent interaction and counts the same interaction as a billable ticket. We charge neither. A resolution that never reaches a person costs you nothing beyond the subscription you already pay.

2

Your best month is not your most expensive

Under per-ticket billing a viral product or a shipping delay raises your software bill exactly when margins are tightest. A flat tier means peak season changes your revenue and not your support line.

3

One price you can actually forecast

No included-ticket allowance to blow through, no overage rate that changes by plan, no separate automation allowance sitting at a tenth of your ticket volume. Three published tiers and carrier fees at cost.

4

Built for messaging, not just the storefront widget

The same AI answers on SMS, WhatsApp, Instagram DM, Facebook Messenger, web chat and email with one memory, so a shopper who asks about sizing in a DM and then emails about delivery is not starting over.

5

It books and qualifies, not only deflects

Deflection is the easy half. The agent also qualifies the lead, offers real calendar slots, books the appointment and writes the result back to your systems, which is revenue rather than cost avoidance.

6

Honest about where Gorgias wins

If you are a Shopify-native store that wants deep native order actions, refunds and a mature app ecosystem inside one ecommerce helpdesk, Gorgias is a strong product and Pro is a fair price. The billing model is the thing to model carefully, not the software.

Common questions

Gorgias pricing questions

How much does Gorgias cost?

Gorgias publishes five tiers in USD. Starter is $10 a month on monthly billing only, Basic is $50 billed annually or $60 monthly, Pro is $300 annually or $360 monthly, Advanced is $750 annually or $900 monthly, and Enterprise is custom. Each tier includes a set number of billable tickets, and AI Agent is charged separately on top.

How does Gorgias pricing work?

Gorgias bills by ticket volume rather than by seat. Every plan includes a fixed allowance of billable tickets, 50 on Starter through 5,000 on Advanced. Once you pass the allowance each additional ticket costs $0.40 on Starter and Basic or $0.36 on Pro and Advanced. Seat count varies by plan rather than driving the price.

What counts as a billable ticket in Gorgias?

Gorgias defines a billable ticket as a conversation on any channel that includes a message from a human agent, a Rule, or AI Agent. One ticket counts once no matter how many messages the thread contains. A reply to an old thread can start a new billable ticket, but only after a defined period of inactivity.

How much does Gorgias AI Agent cost?

Gorgias states AI Agent interactions are priced at $0.90 each on annual plans and $1.00 on monthly plans, and separately that interactions above your plan's included automation allowance are billed at $1.50 each. Both figures appear on the same pricing page. Confirm which rate your contract uses before signing.

Does Gorgias charge twice for an AI resolution?

Effectively yes, and Gorgias says so plainly: each automated interaction also counts as one helpdesk ticket. So an AI resolution consumes an AI Agent charge and a ticket from your allowance. Past both allowances on Pro that is $0.36 for the ticket plus $0.90 to $1.50 for the interaction.

What is an automated interaction in Gorgias?

Gorgias defines it as a customer request fully resolved without a human agent, whether by AI Agent or by another automation such as Flows, Quick Responses, or Order Management. If a human agent replies within 72 hours of an AI resolution, that interaction is charged only as a billable helpdesk ticket instead.

How much are Gorgias overage fees?

Tickets beyond your plan allowance cost $0.40 each on Starter and Basic and $0.36 each on Pro and Advanced. Automated AI interactions beyond your plan's included automation allowance are billed at $1.50 each. Gorgias says it monitors usage and will suggest a higher tier when upgrading would cost less than the overage.

Does Gorgias have a free plan or a free trial?

There is no free plan. Gorgias runs a 7-day trial and does not ask for payment details to start it. Seven days is short for a helpdesk evaluation, so load real historical tickets on day one rather than spending the week on setup, or you will not see how the AI handles your actual questions.

Is Gorgias cheaper than Intercom or Zendesk?

It depends entirely on volume and automation rate. Gorgias starts far cheaper because it does not charge per seat, but ticket and AI meters scale with success. Zendesk Suite runs $55 to $115 per agent per month and now publishes its AI rate too, $1.50 per committed automated resolution or $2.00 pay as you go. Fin charges $0.99 per resolution on top of seats.

Will I pay for spam and newsletters in Gorgias?

No. Gorgias states it filters newsletters, spam and auto-responders automatically so those never become billable tickets. That is worth confirming during the trial with your own inbox, because the definition of an auto-responder varies and a misfiring filter is the difference between a clean ticket count and a surprise.

What is the cheapest way to run Gorgias at high volume?

Annual billing plus the right tier. Annual saves roughly 17 percent, and moving up a tier is usually cheaper than paying overage once you sit consistently above the allowance. Model your expected automation rate too, since the included AI allowance is only about a tenth of the included ticket count.
