ManyChat is the cheaper tool at every comparable step: its Pro plan is $29 a month billed yearly ($39 month to month) with 2,500 active contacts, while Wati's entry Growth plan is $59 billed yearly ($69 month to month). The two are priced for different jobs. ManyChat is a growth-funnel builder that started on Instagram and Messenger and meters you by active contacts. Wati is a WhatsApp Business API inbox that grew other channels, includes three to five users, and meters you by automation triggers and per-message charges instead.
So the right pick depends on what drives your bill. If you run comment-to-DM funnels on Instagram and your team is two or three people, ManyChat costs less, and it keeps costing less until your active contacts climb past its tier limits. If your team works a shared WhatsApp inbox all day, runs broadcast campaigns and click-to-WhatsApp ads, Wati is built for that and ManyChat is not. The number most comparisons skip is the overage: ManyChat's extra active contacts cost about three times the rate baked into the plan, so a viral month lands on the invoice.

That is worth saying because Wati geo-prices by region (it showed us euros from a European connection) and ManyChat moved every new account to a new plan ladder on 2 March 2026, so older comparisons quoting a single $15 ManyChat Pro price or a contacts-stored meter describe the old model. MessageAgent is in the table too, and we say where we lose: for pure Instagram growth funnels, ManyChat is cheaper than us and better at it.

ManyChat Pro at $29 a month billed yearly sits at half of Wati Growth at $59, and ManyChat Business at $69 costs less than Wati Pro at $119. Month to month the gap holds: $39 against $69. If price per month is the deciding line and your job is Instagram or Messenger automation, ManyChat wins it outright.
The ManyChat overage costs three times the plan rate
Pro includes 2,500 active contacts for $29, which is about 1.2 cents per contact. Each contact past that is 3.8 cents on yearly billing and 5 cents on monthly, roughly three times the included rate. On yearly billing, Pro plus overage passes the $69 Business price at about 3,553 active contacts, so upgrade before that, not after.
Wati meters automation, not audience
Wati does not count your contacts. It counts automation triggers (1,000 a month on Growth, 2,000 on Pro, 5,000 on Business, then $40 per extra 1,000) and bills each WhatsApp message on its rate card. A big list that rarely hears from you is cheap on Wati. A small list running busy workflows is not.
Seats decide it for teams
Wati Growth includes three users and does not sell a fourth, so a four-person team starts at Pro, $119 a month with five users. ManyChat Pro includes three users but only two Inbox seats, with a third at $25. If several people answer chats all day, price the seats before you compare plans.
AI is priced differently on each
On ManyChat, AI-powered automation is part of Pro under the new plans. Wati includes AI Co-pilot credits (250, 500 or 1,500 a month) that help your team write replies, sells more at $30 a month, and prices its Astra AI agents separately with no figure on the page. An AI that answers customers on its own is a separate line on Wati.
Neither was built around US texting
Wati lists SMS fallback as a beta on its Business plan only. ManyChat adds SMS as a channel on Pro. Both started life around Meta channels. MessageAgent runs one AI across SMS, WhatsApp, Instagram DM, Messenger, web chat and email, with 10DLC registration handled and carrier and Meta fees passed through at cost.

Why does Wati show prices in euros?
Wati prices by region and serves the currency of the visitor's location. From a European connection its pricing page showed Growth at 59 euros a month; from a US connection the same page showed $59 billed yearly and $69 monthly. If you are buying for a US business, check the page from a US connection or confirm the currency on your order form.
What is an active contact on ManyChat?
An active contact is a person your ManyChat account interacts with during the month, and each plan includes a set number: 250 on Essential, 2,500 on Pro, 7,500 on Business and 25,000 on Advanced. Past the limit you pay overage per contact, and ManyChat lets you set a contact limit in billing settings to cap it. Older accounts may still be on the previous contacts model.
Does Wati charge extra for WhatsApp messages?
Yes. Every Wati plan carries per-message charges for marketing, utility and authentication templates, billed on Wati's own rate card, and the Business plan adds volume discounts. Wati publishes a conversation pricing calculator for this. Compare its rates to Meta's published WhatsApp rates for your country before you sign, since that difference is a real part of the bill.
Can I use ManyChat for WhatsApp?
Yes, from the Pro plan. ManyChat lists WhatsApp, SMS and email among the channels Pro adds, along with WhatsApp broadcasts and automations that move leads from Instagram or TikTok into WhatsApp. Meta's own WhatsApp message fees still apply. If WhatsApp is your main channel and a team works it all day, Wati's inbox and assignment tools are stronger.
