Matador AI does not publish a price. On 24 September 2026, matador.ai/pricing returned a 404, and the only pricing promise on Matador's own site is that you leave a demo "with the extra-cars-per-month math for your store size, and pricing." Any Matador monthly figure you read online comes from a third party, not from Matador. The closest published benchmark is DealerAI, which lists $599, $1,499 and $2,299 per rooftop per month for a similar set of dealer AI agents.
Every vendor figure in this article was read from the vendor's own US site on 24 September 2026, except Podium, read on 18 September 2026. Where a number comes from a third party, we say so.
How much does Matador AI cost per month?
Matador quotes each store individually after a demo, so there is no list price to report. What we can report is what is and is not on its site. The homepage and the compare page both route every visitor to "Book a Demo." The pricing URL is a dead link. Matador describes five purpose-built agents covering website chat, text, voice calls, service booking and follow-up, says it serves more than 1,500 rooftops, lists 62 integrations, and states that onboarding includes CRM and DMS setup, workflow configuration and team training.
Estimates do circulate. Search results for Matador pricing surface figures such as $500 to $1,000 or more per month, and $1,000 to $2,500 per month for larger stores. Those come from competitor blogs and review aggregators, none of them cite a Matador document, and we could not confirm any of them. Treat them as rumors until you have a written quote.
Why doesn't Matador publish its pricing?
Because Matador prices by store, and the store drives the cost. A franchise group with voice AI on the service drive, CRM write-back and several rooftops is a different contract from one used car lot that wants its website chat answered. Quoting per store lets Matador price that range. It also means you cannot compare Matador against anything until you have sat through the demo, and most dealers who search "matador ai cost per month" are trying to find out whether the demo is worth their time.
The useful move is to anchor on vendors that do print a number, then walk into the Matador call knowing what the same features cost elsewhere.
What do Matador's competitors charge?
Four dealer AI vendors that rank next to Matador were checked on the same day. Two publish real prices, two do not.
| Vendor | Published price | Unit | Year one, one rooftop |
|---|---|---|---|
| Matador | Not published, /pricing is a 404 | Quoted per store | Unknown until quoted |
| DealerAI Basic | $599 per month | Per rooftop, unlimited users | $7,188 monthly, $6,109.80 annual |
| DealerAI Reach | $1,499 per month, 5,000 SMS included | Per rooftop | $17,988 monthly |
| DealerAI All-in-One | $2,299 per month plus voice minutes | Per rooftop | $27,588 monthly, before voice |
| Revmo | $0.59 per resolved conversation plus from $79 per agent | Per agent plus usage | Volume dependent |
| Podium Pro | $599 per month (Core $399) | Per location plus fees | $7,188 before fees and AI add-on |
| Drivee, Spyne | Not published | Not disclosed | Unknown |
| MessageAgent Growth | $199 per month, or $1,908 per year | Flat per account | $1,908 annual, $2,388 monthly |
DealerAI's page is the most complete in the category. Every plan is per rooftop per month, with unlimited users, no setup fee on monthly plans, month-to-month terms with 30 days' notice, and 15% off on annual billing. Basic covers the website chatbot, appointment scheduling, AI texting, Facebook and Instagram messages, and inventory plus CRM integration through ADF leads. Reach adds AI follow-up by text and email, appointment reminders and lead re-engagement, and includes 5,000 texts. All-in-One adds inbound and outbound voice AI, outbound campaigns, integrations with Xtime, Tekion, TMS and eLeads, review requests and full API access. Extra texts cost $100 per 5,000, which is $0.02 a text, and voice minutes are metered at a rate DealerAI does not publish. Volume pricing starts at three or more rooftops.
Revmo is built around phone calls. It charges a per-agent platform fee from $79 a month plus $0.59 per resolved conversation on pay as you go, lowers both when you commit to a term, and adds a one-time implementation fee it scopes after listening to a sample of your calls.
What is a realistic budget for Matador at one rooftop?
Nobody outside Matador's sales team can give you a number, but you can bracket it. Matador's feature set, with chat, text, voice, service booking and follow-up on one platform with CRM and DMS integration, lines up most closely with DealerAI's All-in-One tier at $2,299 a month plus voice usage. A chat-and-text-only package lines up with DealerAI Basic at $599. So a Matador quote below about $600 a month for one rooftop would be cheap for this category, and one above about $2,300 before voice would be expensive. That is an inference from a competitor's published card, not a Matador price, and you should use it only to judge the quote you receive.
Budget three extra lines that dealer AI quotes often bury: onboarding or implementation, texting and voice usage above any included allowance, and the price for a second rooftop. Ask for each in writing.
Is Matador worth it for a used car dealership?
It depends on whether you need what the price pays for. Matador's strengths are depth in the dealership stack (CRM and DMS integration, live inventory, voice on the phones) and a managed rollout with a dedicated success manager. A franchise store or a multi-rooftop group with a BDC to feed will use all of that.
An independent used car lot often will not. If the problem is that texts, Facebook messages and website chats sit unanswered from 7 pm to 9 am, you are paying for integration and voice capacity you may never switch on. That buyer is better served by a flat-priced messaging AI that answers and books across every text and social channel. We built a conversational AI for used car dealerships page that prices that option against every vendor above.
What is the best Matador alternative for a small dealership?
Pick by the job, not the brand. If you need phone coverage and deep DMS integration, compare Matador against DealerAI All-in-One, because DealerAI publishes a number you can negotiate against. If you need a phone-first agent billed on usage, look at Revmo. If you already run Podium for payments and texting, our Podium AI for car dealers pricing breakdown shows what one rooftop really pays. And if review requests are the feature pushing you toward a $2,299 tier, a dedicated review request and review widget tool does that job on its own, without upgrading your whole AI platform.
If you want text, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, web chat and email answered by one AI that qualifies on budget and trade and books the visit, MessageAgent costs $199 a month on Growth with 5,000 AI conversations and 10 seats, or $1,908 a year. We are clear about the limits: we do not answer phone calls, we do not sync a live DMS inventory feed, and we do not write deals back to a CRM. You load the vehicles and policies you want the AI to use. For the full franchise workflow, see our car dealership AI agent page and the dealership chatbot pricing comparison.
What should you ask Matador on the demo?
Six questions turn a demo into a number you can compare:
- What is the monthly price for my rooftop, and is it per rooftop or per group?
- Which of the five agents are included at that price, and which are add-ons?
- Is there an onboarding or implementation fee, and is it one-time?
- How are texts and voice minutes billed above the included amount, and at what rate?
- What is the contract term, the notice period and the renewal increase?
- Does the price require a specific CRM, or does it work with the one I already run?
With those six answers you can put Matador's annual cost next to DealerAI's $7,188 to $27,588 and our $1,908 and decide on facts. If you would rather start with a price you can read today, see MessageAgent's plans and have the AI answering your after-hours leads this week.
